Agenda for Tuesday, 18th May 2010

The House is back after a week's break for Budget 2010. On Thursday there will be live blogging (on the details of bill) all afternoon while the Budget is read in the House. In the House will have up-to-date video so you can skip back later to the sections you want to view again or may have missed. All available to embed through YouTube onto websites on the day.

Government business that will be continued this week are the Hon Anne Tolley's Education Bill (finishing its third reading). The Electoral (Administration) Amendment Bill (restructuring the Electoral Commission) and the Sentencing and Parole reform bill (also know as the 'three strikes' bill) are both in their committee stages this week. The Hon Nathan Guy's Private Security Personnel and Private Investigators Bill has its second reading and if there is enough time before the Budget, the Hon Simon Power will have the first reading of his Commerce Commission (International Co-operation, and Fees) Bill.

There is one members bill slated for first reading on Wednesday: Carol Beaumont's Credit Reforms (Responsible Lending) Bill, along the same lines of Charles Chauvel's earlier bill directed at regulating the interest rates of loan sharks.
